For all those who have upgraded to the Iphone firmware v 3.1.2 an Unlock was released yesterday by GeoHot. Blackra!n RC3, the Jailbreak tool is available at http://blackra1n.com and includes the new Unlock. There are versions available for both PC and MAC.
For those who have already jailbroken their Iphones running v 3.1.2, Blacksn0w can be downloaded via Cydia by adding the source http://blackra1n.com to Cydia. Enjoy!
Apple released their iPhone 3.1 firmware on September 9, and now the iPhone Dev Team has released their Pwnage Tool 3.1 software which can jailbreak iPhone 3.1. There is no Windows Pwnage Tool 3.1, it only works for Mac. If you’re a Windows user then you’ll have to wait for the iPhone Dev Team to release redsn0w. If you’re a Mac user, then follow the steps below to jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1.
The Pwnage Tool 3.1 software only works on the following devices: iPod Touch 3.1.1 (first generation only), iPhone 3.1 (first generation), and iPhone 3G 3.1. As of right now the iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2nd generation, and the new iPod Touch 3rd generation are not supported.
2. Double-click the Pwnage Tool icon to launch Pwnage Tool. You may get a message that says “PwnageTool is an application downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?“. Just click Open.
3. When Pwnage Tool 3.1 launches you will see a message that says “Copyright 2009 iPhoneDevTeam. This software is not for commercial use. If you bought this software demand a refund. It is not for sale. We are not responsible for any damage this software may do to any of your equipment, BE WARNED.” Just read it and click Ok.
4. Click on the device you want to jailbreak. I have an iPod Touch so I’ll click the iPod Touch in Pwnage Tool. After selecting the device click the arrow in the bottom right corner.
5. Pwnage Tool will now attempt to locate the IPSW file for your device. If you don’t have it downloaded already, here are the download links (iPod Touch download links will not be added here because they expire):
6. Once Pwnage Tool finds your IPSW click on it. If it doesn’t find it then you can manually browse and locate it. Click the blue arrow in the bottom right corner of the Pwnage Tool application to continue.
7. Pwnage Tool will now show a message saying something like “We will now create an ipsw file that you can use to restore your iPod Touch (2G) with iTunes. This file will be placed on your desktop. Do you want to continue?“. Click Yes.
8. Pwnage Tool will now start building the IPSW. You will be prompted to enter in your password, just enter in your password and click Ok.
9. Once your IPSW has been buit, Pwnage Tool will display the following message: “Has your iPod Touch (2G) been Pwned before (does it have the pineapple logo)? If you are unsure click No.“. Just go ahead and click No.
10. Time to put your device in DFU mode. Pwnage Tool will guide you through the steps.
11. Once you have successfully put your device in DFU mode Pwnage Tool will display the following: “Successfully entered DFU mode! Close the Pwnage Tool application, start iTunes and restore with your custom firmware bundle.” Just click Ok.
12. Now open iTunes (make sure you have iTunes 9!). If you don’t have iTunes 9 then download it and install it now.
13. Once you launch iTunes 9, press option on your keyboard and click Restore in iTunes. Find the IPSW file that is named something like iPod1,1_3.1.1_7C145_Custom_Restore.ipsw. Make sure it has Custom in the name of the file and then click Choose.
14. iTunes will now restore the custom IPSW file to your iPhone or iPod Touch. Once it’s done you’ll see Cydia and Icy on your device! Congratulations, you are done jailbreaking iPhone 3.1 firmware.
You can jailbreak iPhone 3GS 3.1 and iPod Touch 3rd generation, but the jailbreak is not out for it yet. I’ll create a guide on how to jailbreak it once the software for it is released. Stay tuned!

Skype- the Skype client is a great way to stay in touch with friends and family around the world. Skype offers unlimited country and world plans. Skype can be downloaded from the App Store. Fring: This application integrates your SKYPE account along Instant Messaging and Social Networking sites including Facebook and Twitter. Fring can be downloaded for free at the App Store.
Tricker ThreeG- This application will allow you to use Skype, Fring and Slingbox over your 3G connection on your Iphone. You will no longer be confined to using Wi-Fi for these apps. You can find this app on Cydia.
Backgrounder- Allows you to keep an Iphone application running after you exit the application. This app is really helpful for keeping Skype running for inbound calls. This app can be downloaded from Cydia.
HebDict- This Hebrew/English dictionary is an add-on to "wedict" which can be found on the App Store. HebDict can be downloaded using Cydia.
IsraelMoney- This app can be downloaded for free at the appstore. It will provide current exchange rates of the Shekel to foreign currencies.
PocketLuach- This app is available for purchase through the appstore. It provides a Hebrew Calendar along with zmanim, sefirah counts and a siddur.

If you currently have a data unlimited plan, you can now use your Iphone as a 3g modem for your laptop. Here's how From your safari browser on the iphone, Navigate to http://help.benm.at/il.php, select your carrier to download the file. Once downloaded run the file. After the install reboot your phone, go to settings>general>network and turn on tethering. To tether, plug your Iphone's USB cable into your laptop. If you have bluetooth on your laptop, you can configure a bluetooth modem connection as well.

Here's how to upgrade, jailbreak and unlock v3.0
Sync- make sure you sync your Iphone, as the 3.0 firmware will delete all the data and apps on your phone. After the upgrade you can re-sync the data and apps back to the Iphone. Note: Apps added with Cydia or Installer will need to be reinstalled manually.
Download- You will need the following Itunes 8.2 Iphone V3.0 Firmware (download through Itunes 8.2) redsn0w (available at blog.iphone-dev.org)
Install- You will be prompted to install the V3.0 update, click on update and wait for the process to complete.
While you are waiting, install redsn0w (the 3.0 jailbreak) by Extracting redsn0w-win_0.7 to C:\
Jailbreak- Once your phone has been updated; it's time for the Jailbreak. Locate the 3.0 firmware update; the updates are stored in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates. Copy the file to c:\redsn0w-win_0.7\ Take the firmware file and drop it onto redsn0w.exe Check the boxes to install CYDIA and ICY. Wait for a message to come up saying please connect your iPhone into DFU mode. Then connect your iPhone to the computer if you haven’t already done so, and hold down the Power and Home buttons for 10 sec. (If the apple screen comes up you have gone too far) Then let go of the Power but keep holding onto the Home button. Hold it for at least 30 sec or until it reconnects to the computer. Go to the Command Prompt window (from the start menu, select run and type cmd and and press enter.) When the command window comes up, press enter.
Unlock- now that you have updated your firmware and jailbroke your phone, it’s time for the Unlock. Run Cydia or Icy add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia or icy Search for ‘ultrasn0w’ in cydia or ICY and install, then reboot the Iphone.
Final Steps- Now that the IPHONE is updated, jailbroken and unlocked, it’s time to resync the phone to Itunes. You may want to review the sync options in Itunes to insure your apps and data will be synced the way you'd like. After Syncing your data and apps back to the Iphone, check the APP Store application for updates, as many apps have been updated to work with 3.0. If you had any Cydia applications, you can reinstall them using Cydia or ICY. Finally, enjoy!

The release of Ultrasn0w, the software unlock for firmware v3.0, has been delayed. There is currently an issue with the unlock that disables the YouTube application. The Dev-Team are working on resolving the issues and hope to have it released soon. redsn0w, which is currently out, provides a jailbreak for the new firmware and will include the Ultrasn0w unlock tool when it is released. Before making any changes to your Iphone, I recommend reading the golden rules from the dev-team site.
GOLDEN RULE: If you are using a 3G iPhone with yellowsn0w and rely on yellowsn0w to obtain cellular service, then you should NOT use redsn0w right now. Ultrasn0w (the 3G carrier unlock) is not included with this release and therefore your baseband will be locked and unable to use an operator other than the official one it was bought for. UltraSn0w will be released via APT (cydia and icy) soon. If you have an original iPhone (1st generation) then 3.0 carrier unlock works with this redsn0w release.
Yellowsn0w in its current form will NOT work with the baseband version that is present in the 3.0 update, you will need Ultrasn0w, which will be released sometime soon, Ultrasn0w will work with all iPhone 3G models (but not 3GS), even ones that were previously unlockable, Ultrasn0w (when available) will be released via APT (this means you will be able to get it via Cydia or Icy).

This app is suitable for the recent 3.0 release
redsn0w will NOT work for the iPhone 3GS.
redsn0w WILL work for Original iPhone (1st Generation), Original iPod touch, iPod touch 2G and the iPhone 3G (not the iPhone 3GS).
To use redsn0w simply upgrade the device in iTunes to firmware version 3.0 and run redsn0w to activate and jailbreak the device (and if you are using an original iPhone 2G, it will unlock it too!)
